First Flight boys win home track meet

First Flight won nine boys events Wednesday, March 27 to defeat Currituck and Hertford County teams in a home track and field meet. Boys team scores included First Flight 79, Hertford 61 and Currituck 29.

In the girls competition, First Flight girls won six of the 16 events scored to finish second. Team scores for the girls meet had Hertford winning with 56, First Flight second with 48 and Currituck a close third with 43.

Although First Flight boys failed to score any points at all in the hurdle events, they did grab every point available in all the distance events.

Zach Hughes and Cole Tomlin were double winners for the Nighthawks. Hughes won the 800 and 1600 meter runs while Tomlin prevailed in the shorter 100 and 200 meter sprints.

Heidi Sabatini proved to be the top point person for First Flight girls winning the high jump, long jump and triple jump events.
