Tyrrell Elementary School to salute veterans

Cheryl Helms, principal of Tyrrell Elementary School, is inviting all armed forces veterans to attend and participate in the school’s Veterans Day program on Nov. 12.

Schools will be closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 9:30 a.m., “Tyrrell Elementary School will honor our local veterans with our annual Veterans Day Program,” said Helms.

“We are asking all local veterans to join us at 9 o’clock in the TES Media Center for light refreshments and to take part in the Parade of Veterans leading up to the program,” she said.

All students are encouraged to wear red, white and/or blue.

Members of The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America and other veterans service organizations are reminded to wear their group’s headgear.

Tyrrell Elementary School is at 486 Elementary School Road in Columbia.
