Man missing from Currituck County found Tuesday

UPDATE: The Silver Alert for Clarence Hugh Mays has been cancelled as of 2:27 p.m. on December 24. Mays was reportedly found safe in the Raleigh area.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a missing endangered man, Clarence Hugh Mays.

Mays was last seen on Survey Road in Moyock on Monday, December 23. His direction of travel was reported to be south of Grandy.

On Tuesday, December 24 at 12:03 a.m., Mays’s credit card was used in Burlington.

Mays, 73, is described as white, 5’10” and weighing 180 lbs. with short gray hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing burgundy jogging pants and a jacket of unknown color. Mays was reported to be driving a white 2007 Toyota Tundra with the North Carolina license plate number BAR9555.

The public is asked to be on the lookout for Mays, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.
