The Gardner-Webb University Concert Choir will perform at Outer Banks Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 8 at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. The choir will also participate in the morning worship service, which begins at 10 a.m., that Sunday by serving as the featured choir.

The public is invited to attend both performances.

The GWU Choir is a touring choir composed of students from a variety of musical backgrounds and scholastic fields. They perform sacred and secular music from all historical periods in churches, schools and at university functions. Each year they tour throughout the Carolinas and the southeast and have performed in New York, Washington, D.C., Europe, the Holy Land, Costa Rica and Ireland.

Located in Boiling Springs on 225 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, GWU is home to nearly 3,500 students from 39 states and 19 foreign countries and includes a total of six professional schools, two academic schools and 14 academic departments offering over 80 undergraduate and graduate major fields of study.

Dr. Paul J. Etter is in his nineteenth year as director of choral activities/coordinator of worship leadership and also the chair of the Department of Music. A GWU Excellence in Teaching award winner, he teaches conducting classes, worship leadership classes and conducts the GWU Concert Choir. Each spring, the Choral Union performs a major choral/orchestral work such as Messiah. Dr. Etter has been actively involved leading church music for nearly 35 years, leads clinics and festivals in area churches and schools and serves as the treasurer for the NC chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.

Outer Banks Presbyterian Church is located at 907 South Croatan Highway (milepost 8.5) in Kill Devil Hills.  Admission is free; a freewill love offering will be taken. A nursery will be provided.
