Results from a March 11 high school track and field meet at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City show First Flight boys and Currituck girls winning their respective meet competitions.

Winning two individual and two relay events, First Flight boys finished ahead of eight other schools with 130 points, followed by Northeastern in second place with 107. Currituck boys finished third with 80, Perquimans was fourth with 74, Manteo took fifth with 63, Holmes had 56 for sixth place, Pasquotank was seventh with 41, Bertie placed eighth with 25 points and Hatteras was ninth with 19.

Henry Stecher and Tyler Sylvia were individual winners for First Flight, taking the 400 and 1600. The Nighthawks also won the 1600 and 3200 meter relays.

Scoring first place finishes for Currituck girls, Laneya Evans won the 100 meter dash, Hailee Reinke took the 3200 and Ashley Lindsey won the discus to pace the Knight to their first place finish with 135 points. A distant second was Holmes with 102, Northeastern’s 93 placed the Eagles in third, Manteo took fourth with 79, First Flight girls were fifth with 71, Pasquotank claimed sixth with 33 points, Perquimans was seventh with 16.5, Bertie claimed eighth with 10.5 points and Hatteras was ninth with 3 points.

Top finishers for First Flight girls included Maddy Wagner winning the 800, Tatum Dermatas winning the 1600, and the team of Emma Hartnett, Mya Salch, Wagner and Dermatas winning the 4×400 meter relay.

Kyle Soles was the lone Manteo winner with a 135-01 toss in the boys discus.
