Dave Milton Pledger, 52, was called home on the morning of June 18, 2020 to his eternal resting place while residing in Seattle, Wash. Affectionately known as “Baby Harris” he was born on November 4, 1967 in Norfolk, Va. He was the son of the late Harris Milton Pledger and Doris Hewett Pledger Creecy of Manteo.

Dave is survived by his loving mother, Doris Hewett Pledger Creecy of Manteo; sisters Laverna Coquetta Brooks of Manteo, Michelle Pledger of Wilmington; brother Harris Burton of Manteo; nephew Damian Conyers of Manteo and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.

Dave’s formal education was in Norfolk, Va.; Manhattan, NY and Manteo public school systems. Immediately upon graduating from Manteo High School, Dave continued his studies at College of The Albemarle and higher-level studies at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Dave followed the footsteps of his family by enlisting in the United States Armed Forces. His military career in the Navy ended in 1997.

Upon leaving the military, his love for cooking and the water led him to the seafood industry. Dave worked for UniSea, Inc. for over 10 years.

There will be an intimate family viewing on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in Wilmington. The graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Hewett Family cemetery in Bolivia, NC.
