First responders battle house fire in Nags Head’s historic Cottage Row

Nags Head Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire Friday, August 14 at approximately 12:50 p.m. at 4047 South Virginia Dare Trail. On arrival, units reported heavy smoke and fire from the front of the dwelling, which is located on the oceanfront in the historic Cottage Row district. They made a quick knock down of the fire and ventilated the structure.

The house was occupied at the time the fire broke out, but all residents and their pets escaped without injury. No resident or firefighter injuries were reported.

Public safety personnel from Kill Devil Hills, Colington and Roanoke Island fire departments, Dare County EMS, Nags Head Police Department and Dominion Power assisted in the response.

The fire was brought under control and the cause is under investigation.
