Jackie Tillett named Dare County election director

Jackie Tillett has officially been named to replace Michele Barnes as the Dare County election director. Barnes left on August 6.

Tillett was nominated by the Dare County Board of Elections to fill the position after Barnes’ sudden resignation, but Tillett had to wait for approval from the state election board before stepping into the position. The state board approved the nomination on August 13.

Tillett has worked for 35 years with Dare County; the last seven years in the election office. Her last position was as deputy director of elections. She was officially introduced as the new election director at the August 14 Dare County Board of Elections meeting.
