Three Dare girls basketball teams to play in first round of state tournament

Cape Hatteras Secondary, Manteo and First Flight varsity girls basketball teams will play in the first round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s state tournament.

The first round is set for Tuesday night, Feb. 23.

Cape Hatteras Secondary hosts Riverside High from Williamston in Martin County. Cape Hatteras finished the season with a 6-3 overall record and 2-0 in Atlantic 6 Conference play. Riverside, which plays in the Coastal Plains Conference finished the season with a 6-4 record overall and in its conference. First Flight High in Kill Devil Hills hosts N. Pitt High from Bethel. First Flight’s season record is 10-1 and North Pitt’s is 11-2. This girls team won the Conference title this year, the first since 2007-08 year.
