Loran Pierce “LP” O’Neal Jr., 86, of Avon, died June 2, 2021 at his home.

A native of Kinnakeet, he was born August 15, 1934 to the late Ida Mae Meekins and Loran P. O’Neal.

He served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard, retiring as a senior chief.

LP is survived by daughters Ethel O’Neal Carter (Jeff), Pamela S. O’Neal and Mary E. O’Neal; sons Loran P. “Buddy” O’Neal III (Stephanie) and Clifton F.L. O’Neal; grandchildren Ursinio, Melanie, Nicholas, Sarah, Loran IV, David, Brian, Ida, Cody and Xana; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Wanda Gray O’Neal; daughters Patricia M. Montalvo and Angela D. Touchet; and sister Patricia Mae Dack.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 12 at St. John’s United Methodist Church.  Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall.
