Sponsors and applicants sought for Thanksgiving basket program

The Dare County Department of Health & Human Services partners with community groups each year to provide a Thanksgiving Assistance Program. Sponsors and applicants are needed. Participation is welcome from all Dare County residents. Sponsorship will be based on need, availability of sponsorship and funds.

North of Oregon Inlet

Roanoke Island Woman’s Club is looking for sponsors and applicants for its Thanksgiving Basket Program provided in collaboration with the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services.

Sponsorship opportunities include monetary and basket donations. Individuals interested in making a monetary gift can mail checks to Roanoke Island Woman’s Club, P.O. Box 1666, Manteo, NC 27954. Anyone interested in basket sponsorship information can contact Sandy Martin at 252-202-7632.

Participants interested in applying for the Thanksgiving Assistance Program can call or visit Dare County Department of Health & Human Services in Manteo at 252-475-5500 from Oct. 1, 2021 until Oct. 29, 2021. Contact Leigh Brinkley at 252-475-5566 about application questions.

Hatteras Island

The Fessenden Center and Dare County Department of Health & Human Services are looking for sponsors and applicants for the Hatteras Island Thanksgiving Basket Program.

Sponsorship opportunities include monetary and basket donations. Individuals interested in making a monetary gift can mail checks to Fessenden Center, P.O. Box 859, Buxton, NC 27920. Anyone interested in basket sponsorship information can contact Annelise Wilcox at 252-475-5764.

Those interested in applying for the Thanksgiving Assistance Program can pick up and return applications at Dare County Department of Health & Human Services in Frisco from Oct. 4 until Nov. 1, 2021. Contact Jessica Nonnemocher at 252-475-9320 with questions about the application process.
