A split vote at the Wednesday, November 10 Kitty Hawk Planning Board meeting may see a development proposal brought back for continued discussion.

After discussing amending Sec. 42-414(b) of town code to allow multifamily dwelling units in planned commercial developments with a maximum of 14 dwellings per acre as a special use, the four board members present were divided on the issue with two for and two against.

Rob Testerman, director of planning and inspections for Kitty Hawk, said it was not known why so few board members were present. Speculation on the unexpected absences included Veterans Day Holiday falling on Thursday, causing the gathering to be moved up a day.
