Currituck golfers win at Hertford

Playing at the Soundside Golf Links, Jack Eckerd finished the day with 80 to lead his Currituck County team to a first place finish in Tuesday’s 2A/3A Northeastern Coastal Conference high school golf match.

Just five strokes back, Eckerd’s teammate Walter Bailey was low enough to help the Knights slip past First Flight in team scoring 352-359.

The only other players breaking 90 on the par 72 course overlooking the Albemarle Sound were Josh House (Perquimans County) with 83, Ayden Furlough (Edenton Holmes) at 84, Wesley Williams (Camden County) at 87, and First Flight golfers Austin Meads and Gray Hudspeth, who both shot 89.
