Long-time Wanchese citizen Michelle “Micky” Montague, 64, died unexpectedly in Manteo, NC April 23, 2024 of natural causes. Micky was honest, funny, down-to-earth, and kind. She adored her family and friends all over the Outer Banks.

Survivors include her daughter, Gretchen Montague of Manteo; her son, James Montague of Michigan; five grandchildren (and one on the way), and a host of friends and neighbors in the community she loved. As Micky would have preferred, the family is planning a simple cremation with no services. Her cremated remains will rest beside her beloved mother, Jill, back in Cincinnati, Ohio.
