Bicycle helmet grant awarded to Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office

The Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office announced recently that it has been awarded a NC Department of Transportation’s Division of Bicycle Helmet Initiative grant that will provide 45 bike helmets for local youth. According to the announcement, these helmets part of the division’s Bicycle Helmet Initiative to reduce bicycle injuries and death in North Carolina and will include a mixture of toddler, small, medium and large sizes.

In addition to the helmets, the TCSO will receive 45 pairs of front and rear bicycle lights. The TCSO is slated to receive the award equipment by May 1 for equipment to be dispersed through partnered programs within the Tyrrell County. Investigator Treven Franks coordinated this grant for the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office.
