Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

August 2, 1942 – March 29, 2020

Nancy Glynn Wood, 77, also known as Minnie or One-Eye to those who loved her and knew her best, went to sleep on March 29, 2020 and woke up in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Although Nancy traveled all over the country with her husband Jack throughout his military career, she was a Dare County native and proud to call Manteo her home.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Abia Glynn, and her brother, Bill Glynn. She also lost a handful of lifelong girlfriends – Linda, Lou, Tish, and Ms. Janine – whom she loved dearly.  Most importantly, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack Lee Wood, her eternal soulmate.

Nancy is survived by three daughters, Debbie Minton of Columbia, NC, Lynda (Ed) Dick of Pennsylvania and Courtney (Ronald) Thompson of Bladenboro, NC. She left behind 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Nancy is also survived by two nephews Willie (Cathy) Glynn and Howie (Desi) Glynn and a large number of extended family and friends that will forever be affected by her passing.

To know Nancy was to love her. Her outgoing personality and quick-witted sense of humor were one of a kind. She could find humor in any situation and used that ability to get herself and those close to her through many tough times. One of her most amazing assets was her giving heart. Nancy often made her business to try and help people that others had given up on. Whether she was driving people around to pay bills and grocery shop, cooking meals for the sick, or simply donating money and time to a good cause, Nancy was a true example of what it means to be the hands and feet of the Lord.

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” is where we will draw our strength through this difficult transition, because we know for a fact Nancy Wood is in heaven with Jack and they are healthy and strolling those streets of gold having a wonderful reunion! We love you Mamaw!! Fly high!!
