Johnnie Ray Turner, 79, of Kill Devil Hills, died April 19, 2019. Born in Franklin, Va. on May 13, 1939, he was the son of the late Hazel Perry Johnson.

A Vietnam veteran, Johnnie served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a maintenance contractor for Sunshine Lawncare and Landscape of Elizabeth City.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded by wife Lillian M. Turner.

Johnnie is survived by son Eddie R. Turner and wife Erin of Junction City, KS; and grandchildren Jessica Berkery and husband Mark and Justin Turner.

A viewing and celebration of Johnnie’s life will be held at Twiford Colony Chapel on April 25, 2019, from 1-3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dare County Center Nutrition Services to help with the home delivered meals program, PO Box 1000, Manteo, NC 27954 or to the Outer Banks VFW Post 10950, PO Box 713, Nags Head, NC 27959.
