Martha R. Amrhein, 93, of Kill Devil Hills, died in Nags Head on May 23, 2019.

Martha was born in Richmond, Virginia and moved to the Outer Banks full time in 1976 with husband John L. Amrhein, also of Richmond. She is predeceased by her husband John and son James Michael Amrhein of Richmond.

She is survived by son John L. Amrhein Jr., of Colington Harbor, wife Delphine, their children and grandchildren; Phil Amrhein and wife Delta and their two children of Charleston, South Carolina; and daughter-in-law Mary Downes Amrhein of Richmond and her children and grandchildren.

Martha enjoyed many years of golf with her husband at the Duck Woods Country Club. Other interests were fishing, beachcombing and knitting.

Martha will be cremated. A Catholic funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on June 17 at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk with Deacon Al Hallatt officiating.

Martha kept her well-known sense of humor up to the end.
