Polka dots, dancing shoes, suspenders, black and white photos, shimmery chandeliers and live music took over 250 guests back to the golden age at Dare County Arts Council’s fundraising gala Swing!, held on Saturday, October 26.

For the third consecutive year, TowneBank was the presenting sponsor of Dare County Arts Council’s gala, providing support for programs like the Emerging Artist Series and the Power of Art.

“TowneBank was honored to be the presenting sponsor for Swing!,” said TowneBank Northeast North Carolina president Taylor Sugg. “The evening was a great way to raise funds for DCAC and showcase emerging artists at the same time. TowneBank is happy to support the mission of the Dare County Arts Council and all of the good work DCAC is doing on the Outer Banks.”

The Emerging Artist program grew out of Dare County Arts Council’s long-standing emphasis on fostering new relationships with up-and-coming artists on the Outer Banks.

Dare County Arts Council’s 2019 Emerging Artists are photographer Caroline Jarvis, jeweler Mark Slagle, painter Taylor Williams and musician Bobby Soto. The four artists attended Swing! on behalf of TowneBank.

“Attending Swing! as an Emerging Artist was a really fun way to see all of the local support for the Dare County Arts Council,” said artist Taylor Williams. “It was exciting to see the Pirate’s Cove Pavilion filled with people passionate about the arts and keeping the DCAC’s programs going. I’m really grateful to be recognized alongside the three other talented artists.”

Swing! was complimented with a full course dinner by Black Pelican Catering, décor by Holiday House Weddings and Events and entertainment by 504 Supreme and the Truetone Honeys.

“What a truly fantastic and glittering event,” said the Truetone Honeys and 504 Supreme. “Thank you to the Dare County Arts Council for having us play a part in Swing! and to all those wonderful dancers in the audience revving up the energy . . . it was like an evening straight from the ‘40s.”

The silent and live auctions at Swing! provided guests an additional opportunity to help in Dare County Arts Council’s fundraising efforts.

In addition to presenting gala sponsor TowneBank, Swing! was also sponsored by Jane Webster, Rose Harrison Gilreath & Powers, Days Inn & Suites Mariner and Days Inn Outer Banks Wilbur & Orville Wright.

Save the date for Dare County Arts Council’s 2020 gala, which will be held October 24.
