Scup commercial harvest opened May 1

North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation FF-20-2020 sets the harvest period and limits for the commercial scup summer harvest period, north of Cape Hatteras.

This commercial harvest period opened May 1, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. and will close at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020 or when the quota is reached, whichever occurs first.

It is unlawful to take, possess, buy, sell or offer for sale scup less than 9 inches total length.

It is unlawful to possess, sell or offer for sale more than 100 pounds of scup per trip during the summer commercial harvest period.
