On Monday, June 7, Dare County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to conduct two public hearings.

The first hearing, set for 9:15 a.m., addresses the Avon Beach Nourishment Project. The county proposes two county service districts: District A with properties east of NC 12 from south of Due East Road to the Avon village line and District B, which includes all properties in Avon.

Following the Avon hearing will be the required public hearing about the county manager’s recommended budget for fiscal year 2022. The document is available for review at darenc.com.

Public comments for the hearings and on other issues can be made in person in the Commissioners Meeting Room, Dare County Administrative Building, 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive, Manteo or in the Fessenden Center Annex, 47013 Buxton Back Road, Buxton.

Other agenda items include consideration of a conditional use permit for Outer Banks Gas and LP in East Lake; plat review for Hatteras Island Reserve, a four-lot subdivision in Hatteras village; and Dare County Tourism Board requests for consent to buy the Town of Nags Head’s ownership share of the Event Site and to hire Coastal Engineering & Surveying for design and engineering services related to remodeling the server room and marketing area of the bureau’s administrative offices.

The commissioners will take up a resolution modifying the permit for the county’s C&D landfill to accept debris from Hyde and Tyrrell counties and incorporated municipalities in those counties.
