Kevin was born in Beaufort County on December 15, 1962, son of Ernest Harding Cutler, who survives, and the late Patricia Ann Smith Cutler. He was a 1981 graduate of Ocracoke High School and continued his education at Beaufort County Community College, where he received his associates degree in science.  Kevin worked for the Washington Daily News, where he was a staff writer. He compiled a series of many columns, including articles about his life with cancer, which was therapy for him and others fighting the disease. Kevin also was a reporter for The Coastland Times and the Beaufort Hyde News.  His love for children led him to working as a teacher’s assistant at Chocowinity Primary School. Kevin was a great history buff who enjoyed photography, musicals, theater, beauty pageants, reading a good book, creating beautiful flower arrangements and he absolutely loved to make people laugh with his quick wit and fun sense of humor.

Surviving along with his father, Ernest H. Cutler of Blounts Creek, are brother Gregory “Keith” Cutler Sr. and his wife Kathy of Buxton; nephew Gregory Keith Cutler Jr. of Denver, Colo.; niece Patricia Kathryn Cutler of Frisco and aunt Mary Francis Peters of Greenville.
